Position Summary

The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing CNC machining programs used to manufacture precision aerospace components. This role works closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to translate CAD models into efficient, accurate, and safe machining programs, ensuring parts meet aerospace industry tolerances and specifications. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

LOCATION: Macon, GA

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full Time

SHIFT: Day Shift (8 am – 5 pm)

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop CNC programs using SolidWorks and MasterCam software for milling, turning, and multi-axis machining operations
  • Simulate and verify all programs using Vericut prior to production release to identify and eliminate potential collisions, tool path errors, or process risks
  • Review engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining sequences, tooling requirements, and fixturing needs
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies to optimize cycle time while maintaining precision and part quality
  • Collaborate with machine operators and setup personnel to troubleshoot and refine programs on the shop floor
  • Revise and update existing programs as needed based on engineering changes, tooling updates, or process improvements
  • Maintain accurate documentation of programs, Job Books, setup sheets, tool lists, and revision history
  • Support first article inspections and work with quality control to resolve any dimensional or process-related issues
  • Ensure all programming work complies with aerospace industry quality standards (e.g., AS9100) and customer requirements
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, reduced cycle times, and increased efficiency
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures within the manufacturing facility

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, G-code, and multi-axis programming
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Proficiency or working knowledge of SolidWorks, MasterCam, and Vericut
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision quality work
  • Good communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a CNC programmer, preferably in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment
  • Experience with 4- and 5-axis programming
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, ITAR/EAR regulations)
  • Experience with various materials common to aerospace manufacturing (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel)
  • Technical degree or certification in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or related field

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around a manufacturing floor for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. as needed
  • Comfortable working in a shop/production environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and coolants
