CNC Mill Operator – Experienced


Job Summary

  • Trained CNC Mill operator meets all requirements of  Thomson CNC Mill Operator Class B – Trained. Reports to Production Manager.

Essential Functions

  • Upload and download programs from the server to the mill and back. Keep current programs on file at the mill.
  • Properly document changes or revisions for Engineers. Follow Job Book and keep it in order.
  • Practice efficiency in manufacturing the most parts with minimal machine down time and instruct other Mill Operators in doing the same.
  • Cut parts properly to the program specifications by checking dimensions in-process.
  • Calibrate and check micrometers and calipers throughout the day.
  • Train other employees on CNC mill and instruct in optimizing operations.
  • Proofread programs for new parts, modifying and optimizing programs as needed and warranted.
  • Able to bend, stoop, twist, reach, lift 40 pounds and stand on feet for an extended period of time.
  • Read blueprints and use comparator.
  • Understand tool types and wear, how to set tools, and how to sweep a hole.
  • Know feeds and speeds and how to read codes.
  • Keep shared areas clean.
  • Pack up job to move on to the next operation.
  • Sweep and mop floor around machine and wipe down machine daily
  • Assist others with physical tasks as needed

Knowledge Requirements

  • Trained to operate CNC machine

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • 18 years old.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of previous CNC Machining experience.
  • Proficient in basic math, reading, writing and must speak English.
  • Communicates effectively with supervisor and coworkers.
  • Works competently with minimal supervision.
  • Possesses organizational ability in order to set priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines.

Other Information

  • Need to provide personal hand tools and toolbox.
  • Confidentiality Agreement required.
  • Night shift and/or overtime and holiday hours may be required due to production requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain an inspection stamp.
