December, 2009 Safety Alert
From time to time people strip and reanodize our products to get colors other than the black and silver we offer. There are products like this for sale on eBay right now. This is unsafe and not authorized by Thomson. The process of stripping and reanodizing will make the part physically smaller, and much too brittle. There is no warranty of any kind on a part so modified and it can result in a catastrophic failure. Please let us know if you have questions about this.
March, 2010 All Seatpost Collars Shipping
All four sizes of the Thomson Seatpost Collars are shipping. The 28.6 and 29.8 collars in Black and Silver started shipping this week. 34.9 and 31.8 collars in Black and Silver have been shipping since January.
December, 2009 Oval Saddle Rails
Some newer saddle designs incorporate oval shaped carbon rails. Rather than the traditional 7mm round shape, some of these rails are oval and up to 7 x 10mm. They will work with our seatposts just fine. The only issue is with a setback post on a slack frame. (less than 70 degree seat tube) In this case you may not be able to get the saddle nose level. This is something that can be determined at your local bike shop before purchase.

April, 2009 Notes for 29'r Riders
Some people have asked if they may use our 17 degree X2 stem on a 29 inch bike to get the bars lower. Assuming you are using the bike for cross country riding/racing, yes you may. If you are leaping off large rocks 6 feet to flat, no you may not. We also recommend using the 410mm length post for 29 inch bikes.

November, 2007 Notes on Torque
Our instructions for both our stems and seatposts call for grease, not anti-seize, only on the threads of the bolts. Greasing under the heads of the bolt is not needed and can greatly change the amount of force generated by the bolt at our recommended torque, this can lead to premature failure of your components. With all Thomson products please take special care to grease only the threads of the bolt and use a torque wrench. Doing these things prolongs component life and gives you a better margin of safety while riding.
